Bookshelf System 084

A modern bookshelf with shelves suspended from a wooden ladder frame structure. It is an exploration of a long continuous shelf strung together with a light ladder-like frame.

Designed for the law reports library of Schindlers Attorneys and later a similar unit in cherrywood for the law reports library at Group One Advocates.

The 084 Ladder Bookshelf System by REIS Architecture Interiors and Furniture can be made to any width and the design has been adapted for a number of customized library solutions over the past 9 years.

Master Bedroom Suite â€‹

A bed suite with an upholstered & veneered headboard panel. The bedside pedestals float off the headboard. The low-profile bed-base features a solid timber edge all around.

The headboard is boxed and upholstered in fabric of choice with cutout to fit over skirting and allow cables etc. to pass behind the headboard. It also includes built-in/concealed plug boxes behind pedestals.

This furniture piece has a matching lady's desk and stool and can be made to order in a variety of timbers and veneers.

TV Cabinet with Display Unit

Freestanding TV cabinet for a plasma screen and speakers, hiding away all AV equipment for a calm and uncluttered lounge appearance. Behind the sliding cabinet doors are shelves, drawers and built in ventilation all to suit the TV equipment and accessories.

The overall unit measures 3550x730mm with a depth of 620mm. The 560x1400mm display cabinet has glass shelves and a door with downlights to light up the inside.

Conference Table with Glass Top

Solid cherrywood base 6-seater dining table with a rectangular glass top to reduce the amount of solid surfaces in the room and create the illusion of there being more space in the room. We explored the idea of exposing the table frame and tapered the legs out to allow the glass to cantilever off the table frame.

The framework is light & rigid and the glass is bound to the frame with stainless steel studs. The glass can be lifted off the frame but it cannot slide off the frame or be bumped out by accident.

Project completion: October 2007

Boardroom Table

An 18-seat boardroom table with a solid edge top and book-matched veneered inlays, resting on a light leg frame structure. Inspired by bridge construction and an exploration of a skeletal-like under carriage structure, the amount of legs kept to a minimum allowing maximum space between supports for boardroom chairs.

The boardroom table features concealed yet  integrated plug and data connections that are easily accessible from the central surface of the table.

The boardroom table is made to order and can be custom designed to suite 16, 18, or 20 seat configurations in a variety of timber finishes.

Bespoke Staircase & Dining Table

A 6-seater rosewood dining table with a circular glass top. The combination of glass and rosewood makes for a sophisticated feel. The glass top is UV bonded to a stainless steel cap, preventing it from moving.

Complimenting the dining table are wooden treads on a steel framework with a glass balustrade and wooden handrail. The rosewood treads are 'sandwiched' between mild steel stringers and horizontal support members to appear as if they float. This makes the staircase appear as light as possible in a very limited corner of space.

Project completed: January 2008

Staircases

A selection of bespoke staircases designed by REIS.

REIS was commissioned to design a balustrade solution to maximize the width of the staircase and to provide a safe, yet aesthetically clean balustrade. The concept developed to span the length of the staircase in one giant leap. Completed in 2006.

A steel, glass & rosewood staircase suspended from concrete slab and enclosed in a glass cubicle required by client for security purposes. The challenge was to design a staircase and glass partition to be as transparent as possible. Completed in 2007.
